Kenneth Robert Brodecker, 87, Marysville, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Cambridge Place, Marysville.
A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, Marysville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Kinsley Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. at the mortuary.
Burial will be in Marysville City Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later time. Contributions may be sent in care of the mortuary.
Kenneth Brodecker was born June 11, 1917, southeast of Holten, the son of Frank and Gertrude Brodecker. He was the youngest of three children.
He farmed the family farm until 1948 when he and his mother and sisters moved to a house in Holton. He went to work for American Overhead Door Company, Topeka, as a supervisor.
He married Laura Thomas Aug. 10, 1956, in Holton.
In 1959, he moved to Springfield. Mo., and attended office machine school. The family moved to Great Bend in 1960, where he worked for Casey's Office Equipment. In 1963 the family returned to Holton until moving to Marysville in 1964. He worked at J & N Office Supply until his retirement in 1979.
He took over the part time maintenance position at East Ridge Apartments, where they stayed until 1995, when they decided to retire full time. He enjoyed woodworking, yard work and fishing.
He was predeceased in death by his parents and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Laura, of the home; a son, Dean Thomas; a daughter, Lori Busing; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.
