Claus Clausen, the son of Claus Clausen (1818-1903) and Christina Wiesener (1822-1903), was born in Erfde, Schleswig-Flensburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany on May 20, 1851. He migrated with his parents first to Iowa in 1869 and then to Nebraska in 1871. He married Catherine Lassen on Oct 20, 1877. They had 6 daughters and 4 sons:
